How to be prepared before a wildfire.

  • The Emergency Alert System (EAS) and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Weather Radio also provide emergency alerts are provide forecast and alerts. All you need to do is sign-up for emergency notifications by visiting their websites or downloading apps.
  • Always have an emergency supply kit in your home and car. The kits can be purchased in most home improvement stores or online. These kits typically include N95 respirator masks that filter out particles in the air you breathe. 
  • Keep important documents in a fireproof, and/or safe place. You can purchase a fire proof safe, costing as little as $20 from HomeDepot, Lowes or from your local hardware store.
  • Make sure that your home has a 30-35 foot fire resistant zone, that is free of leaves, debris, or flammable materials.
  • Pay attention to alerts sent from your local fire department.
  • If your location has been ordered to evacuate, then please follow those orders. Property can be replaced!

what should you do if, you have a pipe burst?

What damage can cause damage to materials, and if not dried out properly can cause mold to growth. So what should you do if you have a pipe burst or water leak?

Here is a step by step approach:

Step 1.  Shut off the water to the pipe that has burst. Most water heaters, toilets, sinks have a shut off values. If the water is leaking behind a wall, then you will need to shut off the main water valve leading to your home or unit. Step 2.  Call your local plumber to fix the leak. If you need help with leak detection, then give us a call.

Step 3.  Dry out the water. You can DIY this by renting drying equipment from your local hardware store.  A word of warning, if the dry is not done properly, mold can become an issue and your insurance company may not pay for secondary damage that you end up causing.
